HIPPA Compliance
Protecting your privacy is central to our practice. Our services are designed to meet or exceed all requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Confidential Therapy Sessions
All therapy sessions are conducted using end-to-end encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video platforms. We use PsyBooks®, which is specifically designed for behavioral health professionals and independently audited for HIPAA compliance.
Protected Health Information (PHI)
We maintain strict safeguards to protect your PHI. This includes administrative, physical, and technical protections:
- All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Access to records is limited only to authorized personnel.
- No identifiable information is shared with third parties without your written consent.
Your Rights Under HIPAA
As a client, you have the right to:
- Receive a copy of your records upon written request.
- Request corrections to your records if you believe there is an error.
- Limit or restrict certain uses or disclosures of your PHI.
- Request a confidential means of communication (for example, via a specific phone number or email).
Limits of Confidentiality
HIPAA allows disclosure of PHI in specific situations required by law, such as imminent risk of harm to self or others, suspected abuse, or court orders. These exceptions are rare and will be explained to you if they arise.
